If U really want to help farmers and make it attractive to the youth U need to improve the standard and cost of living in the farming areas. They need good drinking water, electricity, equipped schools and good health care facilities. Their children should be given free education to university as enjoyed by the people in the North. There must be laws to protect their dignity and not to be tagged "kokoasefo". THAT IS HOW TO IMPROVE PRODUCTION.

Yes I have benefited so much from the free stuff they are giving out but it would be too early to take business people out because those who clear their land and get disappointed by not getting the free seedlings fall on this ngo' s for help.
For now, cocoa board can't cover every Farmer.I tell you that in my district Ho west, only about 40% of farmers who got the seedlings.Workers registered for seedlings and later sold them out.

Well spoken and written. What are the cost of these programmes?
For all intent and purposes nothing is FREE from COCOBOD as far as I am concerned ad a farmer . Rather, it is the farmers' accrued interest being disbursed under the guise of provision of supposedly free inputs.
COCOBOD should give us the details of these. Was the USD500 million designated for cocoa roads rehabilitation really used for the purpose?
What happened to the grandiose proposal by COCOBOD to provide farmers with some kind of accommodation some years back. Was there any provision for that and if so where is that money?
Is the mass spraying scheme working or farmers are given the inputs and left to their fate? What is the total number of spraying machines and corresponding staff at work presently?
And in spite of these false promises what is more vexatious than being told that the youth is being encouraged to go into cocoa farming.
Director of Public Affairs come again and stop playing into the gallery of the new government.
If there is any new ideas make them public for scrutiny. What we have read from you is not new to some of us.

While the programs exist this is a story of huge exaggeration and outright lies. The Cocoa Sector needs to be freed from any government intervention and the farmers will start to prosper. Currently too many people are filling their pockets with money legitimately belonging to the farmers due to the obsolete regulation regime.
