Don't attribute Amartey's lack of play to AFCON 2017. If his current form of play surpasses that of his mates, he will definitely be selected. Amartey is a good player but remember that his position at Leicester is competitive. Continuous maintenance of physical fitness and skill is always in demand. Unlike Ghana, where we can rely so much on the past performances of players, Leicester's selection of players is based on what you can do now.
Amartey should do better.

So easy for you to say, the player who replaced him was bought specifically for Amartey's position because he was leaving for a month. And if the player they bought is doing well you are not going to get your spot back unless you're a top tier player. All other major football continents play their competitions during the off seasons so their players won't have this problem.

AFCON affects only average players. Mane was picked up by a private jet to allow him start playing for Liverpool right after he played for Senegal, you know. Ndini is just better. AFCON hastened Amartey's replacement but his being benched was inevitable because he didn't impress that much with all the playing time he got. Many of us Ghanains refuse to acknowledge that a lot of our football players are average and the main reason they are on benches in Europe.

I kinda agree with you. Amartey's game is nothing to write about. It is too basic and predictable; with nothing standing out. Ndidi is a much better player; sorry, but that's the truth.

Agreed as well. He partly contributed to the losses.

Whoever blames AFCON for this change of fortunes at his current club is really doing a Amartey was lucky to be used by Ranieri as a DM because I don't think that's why they bought him. The new coach changed the team using Ndidi at that position and has since seen positive results so it is only expected that he keeps playing that guy ion that position. Everybody who follows that club will know that that is the only change which has brought these good results just as the loss of Kante led to their disastrous form.
Amartey was too defensive minded and most of the time out of position.
