Christians singing and praising God Almighty in their Churches is considered noise by the Ga state during homowo. They consider their pagan ceremony to be rather "holy", and thus the absolute silence its observance imposes on the good people of Ghana. Besides Christians not being able to raise their voices to God in their worship, bar operators running their legitimate businesses, are also effectively told to shut down their businesses during the celebration of homowo. I "cry" for my country. It seems tradition and traditional rulers in Ghana have more power to do whatever they want to do, when they want to do it, regardless of how it affects the people and the economy, than the central government does. In the Ashanti region, the Asantehene can come out anytime and ban funerals and all economic activities for weeks in observance of pagan rituals, caring less about the negative impacts those senseless bans have on the ordinary citizen. For Ghana to see any meaningful growth and progress in the economy, the central government must have the backbone and stand up to these so called traditional rulers with their stone age mentality and scrap all these outmoded and demonic customs and traditions that stand in the way of the progress of the people.
