The shipping lines are indeed squeezing importers dry. Recently I imported production machines to Ghana and was charged $110/ day for demurrage. How do you explain such a high charge? It is not true that the charges are between $44 and $96. I have a proof of higher charges. Something has to be done about it as it kills job creation in the country. At least the rate has to be reasonable should demurrage occurs. In addition, the period to clear goods must be extended beyond seven days.
