Chief Operating Officer of Dalex Finance, Joe Jackson has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack those who caused him embarrassment in the renegotiated Ameri deal.
A correspondence from the presidency to the Energy Ministry stated that President Akufo-Addo gave approval to the renegotiated agreement which allows Mytilineos to take over the management of power plants from Ameri Energy.
The new deal was sent to parliament for approval but it was withdrawn after it emerged that the president was misled to give executive approval to it.
Meanwhile, management of Ameri Energy also issued a statement stating that they did not engage government contrary to claims by the Energy Ministry.
It is on the back of these developments that Joe Jackson, speaking on TV3 New Day on Saturday, August 4, called on the President to fire persons who misled him.
“I beg you, you have been embarrassed, sack somebody, you are our president, you have been embarrassed, sack somebody, and let somebody be held responsible for misleading you.”
According to Mr. Jackson, the original Ameri deal which was signed as far back as 2015 is a bad agreement in itself; hence, there is the need to ensure that things are not complicated further.
He urged President Akufo-Addo to ensure that due diligence is done to save the tax payers money.
“The president promised us that he will protect the purse, in this case, we expected him to go back and fix it,” Joe Jackson noted.
