Airbus scandal: Partisanship must stop, let’s kick out corruption – Arthur K.

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Arthur Kennedy has expressed his disappointment in partisanship taking centre stage in discussions around the Airbus scandal.

According to him, corruption is not exclusive to a single political party, as such partisanship should be taken out of discussions and the focus be on dealing with the canker once and for all.

“I am even more disappointed that people have already gone into partisan mode. There are people who see nothing more than the next election in this scandal, so they are gleefully looking for people to be exposed,” he said in a video sighted by GhanaWeb.

He added that, “corruption is not an NDC issue, it is not an NPP issue and I think why we should investigate this current case vigorously we are missing an opportunity to deal a death blow to corruption.”

Dr Arthur Kennedy further urged all former presidents of the country to encourage President Akufo-Addo to set up a Commission to take a look at all the corruption cases that have been recorded under the 4th republic and proffer a lasting solution to the menace.

“I urge that all the former presidents join in encouraging President Nana Akufo-Addo to set up a presidential commission that will investigate all corruption under all governments under the fourth republic… and come with far-reaching recommendations that can be supported by all.”

The leading NPP member believes Ghana will not move forward without dealing with corruption.

The New Patriotic Party, a few days ago alleged that ‘Government Official 1’ in the Airbus scandal is former president John Dramani Mahama and challenged him to speak out if he wasn’t involved in the issue.

This was after the NDC released a statement that Airbus did not pay money to any government official for the period between 2009 and 2015 for Ghana to acquire some aircraft from the company.
