The founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor, has accused the flagbearers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Progress People’s Party (PPP) in the last elections, Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of masterminding the supreme court election petition as a means to introducing disorder into the country.

Speaking to Weekly Observer in an exclusive interview over the week-end, she disclosed how her new found political soul mate during the December elections, Dr Nduom had refused to congratulate the president-elect then, Mr John Mahama under the pretext that the latter’s victory was not legitimate.

She said the leader of the PPP had tried to prevail upon her to make claims that there had been electoral malpractices so as to back and give credibility to claims by Nana Addo that the Electoral Commission in connivance with the NDC and Mahama had cheated him in the elections.

According to her monetary offers were made to her by Dr Nduom if she would co-operate to also accuse the EC and the NDC of engaging in electoral fraud during the elections which benefited the latter most.

However her conscience would not allow her to go that far and flatly refused the offer to also become part of what she thought was an ‘ungodly’ deal.

She told Weekly Observer that Dr Nduom had planned to mention the Ejisu-Juaben, Kwabre and one other constituency in the Central Region she could not readily remember as the places where he was cheated of votes.

She said the chief reason why Nana Addo is bent on challenging the victory of Mahama is because he would not have another shot at the presidency since he has exhausted his chances as per the constitution of the NPP, so he is hoping for a call for run-off by the Supreme Court which would enable him to seek a third attempt at the Flag Staff House.

Madam Akua Donkor says she is prepared to testify to her claims in any open court and would also swear by the Bible or any local deity to prove that what she is saying is true. She has also notified the legal team of the NDC of all the conversation she has had with Dr Nduom who was part of the Nana Addo circle that planned to send Ghana to the brink in their attempt to gain political power.

She accused Nana Addo of being bellicose in his posture and recalled that after the signing of the KNUST peace accord under the auspices of the Asantehene, Otumfou Osei Tutu II, the NPP flagbearer had murmured that he would not forgive anybody who crosses his path during the elections.

She called on the Supreme Court judges sitting on the election petition to be impartial in the administration of justice and refuse to be swayed by political or ethnic loyalty as the petition now begins to gather momentum.

She also expressed disgust about the recent demonstration in London by some Ghanaians who were calling for a speedy trial in the presidential challenge before the Supreme Court.

Madam Akua Donkor holds the view that the demonstrators were NPP sympathizers and supporters whose sole aim was to present Ghana in a bad light before the international community.

She said the December presidential and parliamentary elections were hailed as free and fair by international observers who had witnessed the elections first hand and wondered why Ghanaians would behave in such a manner.
