Political analyst Nana Piesie Anto has asserted that while the election results were shocking, it was not surprising that some top ministers lost their seats in Parliament.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the analyst stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and some of its appointees became arrogant, insensitive, and failed to listen to the public.

He noted that voters were fed up with the government’s and its appointees’ lack of accountability.

He argued that, from the presidency downwards, those at the helm of affairs failed to work in the interest of Ghanaians, instead pursuing their personal interests and amassing wealth for themselves and their families.

“Some of the results were unexpected but not surprising because the majority of the MPs who lost their seats worked for their own selfish interests rather than for the people who voted for them. They didn’t work for the country. Some of them became ministers, while others used the opportunity to send family members abroad. However, they ignored the work they were expected to accomplish for the country. They didn’t work for the country.

"From the presidency to the Members of Parliament, no one did a decent job for the nation. They took advantage of their positions to amass fortune for themselves and their families,” he said.

He added, “The outcome of the elections shows that Ghanaian voters have expectations of the leaders they elect to office. When you are elected, you have a responsibility to serve the people. You can’t ignore their concerns and do whatever you want. When you do that, you give them no choice but to vote against you.”

Nana Piesie Anto also claimed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia abandoned the economy in favor of digitization, even though there was already a minister in charge of that sector.

After the December 2024 polls, there have been security concerns across the country. Catch Etsey Atisu's interview with security analyst, Adib Saani, on Election Desk on GhanaWeb TV below:
