The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has pledged to accept defeat in the 2016 general elections only if the process is free and fair.
According to Akufo-Addo, the presidential and parliamentary polls slated for November 7, must be transparent adding that the NPP would ensure that the election is peaceful.
“We are going to contribute to a peaceful election and make sure that the peace and stability is maintained whatever happens in the election..we want Ghana to be at peace, we want Ghana to be united so we can go on with the development of our people,” Akufo-Addo told Bola Ray on his birthday Tuesday on the Starr Drive.
The three-time flagbearer of the NPP added that: “My concern is always that we have a fair process so the results is authentic and a fair one and expressing the will of our people ...we have been fighting for democracy for a long time, for over 40 years now, and we have it and we intend to make sure that Ghana maintains it”.
General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia also pledged that the NDC is ever ready to accept a defeat in forthcoming elections adding however that due to the several developmental projects, it would be difficult for the party to lose the 2016 elections.
