Ghanaians voted you to pursue looted asset, don’t relent - Chief urges Mahama

North America Dema Naa, Chief Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim, has urged President-Elect John Dramani Mahama not to relent in his efforts to recover all stolen and looted state assets.

He emphasized the importance of the incoming government employing all legal means to recover such items, including monies, properties, and other valuable assets, and to prosecute all perpetrators of these crimes.

The traditional leader noted that many people voted for the former Ghanaian leader because he promised to launch Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) to reclaim stolen state assets from those who used their positions to rob the state.

In a congratulatory message to Mahama after his landslide victory in the December 7 presidential election, Chief Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim expressed his belief that the President-Elect would meet the massive expectations of the Ghanaian public.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dema Naa, one of the traditional leaders of the Dagbon community in North America, also urged Mahama to prioritize economic growth, good governance, infrastructure development, and youth development.

"As you prepare to take over the mantle of leadership of the country, I urge you, Mr. President, to prioritize policies that promote economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction. Your government must also ensure transparency, accountability, and the rule of law in all aspects of governance and invest in the Ghanaian youth through the skills training and entrepreneurship training you promised the youth," Dema Naa Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim urged.

He also appealed to the President-elect to invest in critical infrastructure and foster a sense of national unity.

Already, the president-elect has established a five-member ORAL preparatory team to receive and gather information from the public and other sources on suspected acts of corruption.
