The Omanhene of Akomadan, Nana Boakye Akuamoah Boateng II, has expressed his admiration for the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his compassion and kindness towards the poor and less privileged.

During a campaign engagement in Akomadan, in the Offinso North Constituency of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday by Dr. Bawumia, the Omanhene of Akomadan revealed how he was reduced to tears by the incredible benevolence of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a few years ago, when he built a house for an 82-year old abandoned leper in a village near Wa.

About 4 years ago, Dr. Bawumia responded positively to a documentary which highlighted, the sad state of the 82 year abandoned leper, who lived in a deplorable mud house with her grand daughter.

Dr. Bawumia went to the aid of the poor old woman, by building a brand new house for her at her village, Motori, in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.

The Akomadan Omanhene recalled Dr. Bawumia's remarkable gesture, revealing he emotionally reacted to it, and remarking to Bawumia "what kind of a man are you?."

"I shed tears when Dr. Bawumia went to the rescue of a poor woman. This woman was a very poor woman living in a dilapidated building. But Bawumia saw her plight and said he will build a house for her. It touched my heart and I said, this is a leader," the Omanhene said.

"How Bawumia was able to reach out to this poor woman and built a house for her, was really touching. I was really touched."

"Dr, you're kind. You are a kind and compassionate man who ought to lead this country. "

The Offinsohene further commended Dr. Bawumia for his kindness and compassion towards lepers and the less privileged in society.

"This (building a house for the poor woman) is not only what I have observed about him. Whenever he is celebrating his birthday, he celebrates it with lepers and have meals with them."

"What kind of a man is this? It is very rare to find such kind people," he added.

Apart from eulogising Dr. Bawumia for his kindness, the Offinsohene also commended Dr. Bawumia for his knowledge and vision.

"Not only this, he is knowledgeable, he is visionary, he is kind and also compassionate."
