The constitution clearly envisaged the fact that, there will a time a CJ will be corrupt, incompetent or incapacitated which must be removed by the same constitution which appointed him/her. Same as even the president can be impeached by the same constitution. So what's Atta Kyea blabbing about? That some people should be made above the constitution of the republic? This removal will rather instill discipline in the system where every appointee including the elected under the constitution knows nobody is above the law. I concur THE LAW IS THE LAW!

What kind of selective judgment is this. AG, Counsel State and the President have no intention of deliberately removing the CJ but only followed constitutional processes and procedures.
The whole NPP camp is now crying foul but when the same thing was visited on the former EC chair people like Atta Kyea who I believe is a gentleman were there but preferred to be silent. What kind of hypocrisy and gutter politics is this. Yet these are lawyers who are supposedly said to be having very high Intelligence Quotients ( IQ).
The law still remains the law, moreover what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander.
We don’t have some a group people in our country who are affected only by the laws of the land? The laws are applicable to all and sundry. The CJ removal was action by following constitutional processes and procedures applying Article 146 and its subsections.

They are not different. Let me give you and others like you the layman's explanation so you can understand. The judiciary (the courts), the legislature (parliament) and the executive (presidency) branches of government are said to be co-equal requiring no political influence from one unto the others.

Yet if you look at the processes by which one becomes a president and vice, member of parliament or a judge you find that it is members of the judiciary that are not directly elected into office by voters. MP's and the President or vice president can be impeached or removed from office by voters.

In the meantime independent departments of government like the judiciary (including the human rights court) and the EC must also have a process that must be followed if the heads or deputy heads must be removed from office. Since they're not elected by voters but appointed by the president and confirmed by members of parliament then the steps to remove heads or deputy heads must be the same. Hence the removal of Charlotte Osei, head of EC and removal of the CJ are the same including the fact that both are women and first time for removing female heads.

When Nkrumah removed the first CJ, some Ghanaians at that time spoke against it like we are doing today. The very moment we destroy the Judiciary; we are gradually heading towards something unknown but some Ghanaians who are clueless have no idea.
