Former Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has resigned from his position as National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
In a signed statement announcing his decision on Friday, June 12, 2026, and taking immediate effect, Vanderpuye said he stepped down after careful reflection to pursue a National Executive position within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve in the role and contribute to the implementation of the programme.
"It has been a great honour and privilege to serve His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana in this role. I am deeply grateful for the confidence reposed in me and for the opportunity to contribute to a programme that is transforming local infrastructure and improving lives across our communities," he stated.
According to him, his resignation is intended to allow him to focus on serving the NDC in a different capacity while continuing to contribute to national development.
"This decision is driven by my desire to continue serving our party and country in a different capacity, while contributing to the strengthening of our democratic traditions and institutions," he said.
Vanderpuye also reaffirmed his support for President Mahama's administration and the ideals of the NDC, stressing that his departure from DRIP does not signal a withdrawal from public service.
"I remain fully committed to the vision of President Mahama, the success of his administration, and the ideals of the NDC. I leave office with immense gratitude, proud of the work we have accomplished together and optimistic about the future of DRIP," he added.
"May God continue to bless Ghana and guide us all in our collective service to the nation," he concluded.
“This decision is driven by my desire to continue serving our party and country in a different capacity, while contributing to the strengthening of our democratic traditions and institutions,” he stated.
