Former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong
A spokesperson for former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, Kwasi Kwarteng, has responded to calls by some party members for Kennedy Agyapong to be expelled from the party following his recent outburst.
According to him, expelling Kennedy Agyapong is not the best approach, as the party will still need him and his supporters during elections.
“Let us assume, without admitting, that Kennedy was even wrong. You will still need him and his supporters. Instead of debating who is right or wrong, why don’t we come together, apologise to each other, and move on? Is that difficult?
“If you listen to his concerns, he was asking how he could work with Abronye, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, KOKA, Adwoa Safo, and others. Don’t you think he has genuine concerns?
“Do you think if these issues had been discussed behind closed doors, they would have become public? Ken is not a saint; he is a human being. Sacking him from the party who does it benefit?” he said.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on June 21, 2026, Kwasi Kwarteng stressed that it would be better for the party to resolve its internal differences rather than remove him.
“It is not only party members who will vote in the election. You will still need Kennedy Agyapong, his supporters, and the many people who look up to him,” he added.
It is not wise to argue for the expulsion of Kennedy Agyapong from the party, considering the current state of the NPP compared to 2016, when some party leaders were dismissed and the party still went on to win power.
