Dr Amin Adam declared his endorsement during a courtesy call on him by Sylvester Tetteh
Former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has thrown his support behind former Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh (Sly), who is contesting for the position of General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr Amin Adam declared his endorsement during a courtesy call on him by Sylvester Tetteh and his campaign team on Sunday, June 28, 2026, as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the party’s internal elections.
He explained that his support for Tetteh is based on confidence in his ability to perform effectively in the role, adding that leadership positions in the party must be filled by individuals with proven capacity and commitment.
“For me, I support him because I believe he can do the job,” Dr Amin Adam stated.
“We need competent people in key positions to strengthen the party going forward.”
The former Finance Minister also made remarks about the party’s broader leadership structure, indicating his preference for Paul Afoko in the chairmanship race, as part of what he described as a balanced and strategic leadership team for the NPP.

Sylvester Tetteh was accompanied by a delegation made up of former Members of Parliament and District Chief Executives (DCEs), underscoring the growing support behind his bid for the General Secretary position.
Leading the delegation, former Member of Parliament for Tema Central, Yves Hanson-Nortey, described Tetteh as the ideal candidate for the role, citing his experience and organisational capacity.
According to him, Sylvester Tetteh possesses the qualities needed to strengthen the party’s administrative machinery and improve its electoral fortunes ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“Sly possesses all the qualities required to lead the party as General Secretary,” Hanson-Nortey said.
