Former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has lambasted former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, over his recent attacks on the party.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on July 1, 2026, Obiri Boahen stated that if Kennedy Agyapong feels tired of the party, he should simply leave rather than resort to threats and intimidation against its members.
According to him, Kennedy should not allow personal issues with individuals in the party to influence his actions against the NPP.
He emphasised that while he does not support dismissing Kennedy through the party’s disciplinary committee, he believes Kennedy should step aside if he no longer wishes to continue with the party.
“We are saying that Ken, as an adult says, When the stream overflows and catches the frog, it makes noise. Now we are tired, Ken today this, tomorrow that, we are tired of you.
“Just leave the party and go, that’s all…If the disciplinary committee asks for my opinion, I won’t recommend sacking him. Instead, they should talk things out. But if he feels he is tired, then he should just leave and stop the threats. We don’t live in a group and behave this way. If you want to go, you can go; if you want to stay, you can stay,” he said.
Interior Ministry warns of possible flooding in Greater Accra on Monday
Obiri Boahen further stressed that the party must sit down with Kennedy Agyapong to resolve the matter peacefully.
It will be recalled that Kennedy Agyapong, who failed to lead the NPP as its flagbearer in the 2028 elections during the party’s primaries, recently threatened to expose the NPP in June–July 2027, claiming he possesses secrets that could damage the party.
Meanwhile, some party leaders have petitioned the disciplinary committee to dismiss him and the matter is currently under consideration.
