Wontumi was jailed because of crimes against the environment, his greed was what sent him to jail, and he have other cases pending against him. That is what greed does to a man, the Holy Scriptures says, for what shall it profit a man, to gain the whole world and lose his own soul. This matter is not merely about personal grievances or political rhetoric. Rather, it concerns his involvement in illegal mining (*galamsey*) and the severe, widespread environmental damage resulting from those activities. While personal insults can be forgiven, the destruction of water bodies, forest reserves, and community livelihoods requires accountability under the law.
Forgiveness from the Presidency does not erase the ecological and legal liabilities owed to the state and the affected citizens.

This deliberate attempt to make it appear as though our judiciary has been at the beck and call of the executive must be taken serious by the judiciary. If I were a lawyer, I will drag someone before a court for impugning the integrity of the courts and bringing them into disrepute. We must tackle these things head on. We have lost our public decency. Please, lawyers, one of you should do a pro bono on this to help shield our judges and the courts from these needless attacks.

To do so is to confirm the political dimension of his conviction which is not the case here. How special is chairman Wontumi. Does that mean that members of the political class are exempt from th e laws of the country? The NPp has already characterized the judgment as political, so if he is a political prisoner, nothing should be done about it. Let the NDC take the blame and allow the NPP to come and release him from Jail. You would be the first to accuse the President of such meddling if the President were to step in and free an NDC politician who had just been sentenced to prison. Wontumi is entitled appeals within the court system. But why are you asking the President to forgive Wontumi and set him free? Is Wontumi the only convict who was recently sentenced to prison? Palgrave if you are of the view that Wontumi was jailed as a results of some statements he Wontumi made against then Candidate Mahama,then Pres.Mahama is vindictive and atrocious and our legal system is corrupt.Why would you beg for mercy from a vindictive Man.Instead of begging challenge the judgement in court.If Wontumi has committed the offence and deserve the punishment so be it.Begging the president to interfere with the judicial process is in itself corruptible and undermines judicial accountability. The next time it will be NDC doing same.How do we go forward with this altitude.I am NPP and I don't hate Wontumi,he is a very nice and easy going person.He opened his doors to me and took me on an excursion when i walked into his Palace at Agric Nzima.I still have pictures I took with him on my phone.My house is on the same street as his.He is such a wonderful person outside politics.
