The IMF is mischievous. They know that the cost they are referring to is a policy related cost to stabilize Ghana's economy and win the country off borrowing. They are doing everything policy to discredit the Goldbod and the BoG policy to avoid perpetual dependence foreign lenders. The cost is clearly stated in the financial statement of both Goldbaod and BOG. Why are they not taking the narratives as audited by the auditors of BoG and Goldbod. Where does the World Bank and IMF record cost of policy interventions that they give to support distress economies. How much is the World Bank and IMF making from the loans they give to Ghana and other African countries? So, they have all the motivations to keep African countries perpetually dependent on them.
Ghana should not mind them. Unfortunately, 'illiterate' Afenyo Markins and the NPP have become puppets. If we can hold on to the Godbod monopoly for the next 4 years, Ghana will be OK. Compare the impact on the economy of dollar at Ggc11 and Dollar at Ggc18. Shame on IMF

NPP is a wicked cabal disingenuous of people. They are angry in opposition and they believe the only way they can find themselves back in power is to make the NDC unpopular or wrap the government in scandalous activities. That's their game-plan heading into 2028.

Back specifically to GoldBod. The only tangible thing the NDC government can point to as their main achievement so far is the fact that the cedis is performing far better under the NDC than it was under the NPP. How did we get here? The Bank of Ghana is using foreign exchange being raked from the export of gold to support the cedi and who is doing this sales of our gold? The GoldBod!!!

Not only has the GoldBod tightened how gold leaves the shores of Ghana, and therefore has made things so difficult for some people who were benefiting massively under the previous NPP government, the GoldBod is generating so much money that is helping the NDC government do whatever good things the economy is witnessing. Yes, things are still tough but they are better than they were under the NPP.

It is true that losses have been recorded in these gold transactions but the IMF said the losses were at the Bank of Ghana (which was also buying its own gold for the gold reserves programme), fees that it paid to the GoldBod for assaying, and other foreign currency translation losses (and to the uninitiated, currency translation losses "is a thing" in accounting).

So folks, see through the dark game that the NPP is playing with a GoldBod that is making profits. Even when the IMF says the losses were at the Bank of Ghana, NPP will like you to pin it on the GoldBod. If they (the NPP) can destroy (kill) the goose that is laying the golden egg for the NDC government, things will get bad for the NDC government and that will be an opening for the NPP to come back to power.

So now you know what this unwarranted attacks on the GoldBod is all about. The GoldBod is doing a good thing and some people in the NPP are not happy to see that. NPP will rather cry wolf than to sing praises
