What the NDC has to do is to encourage decent democracy within. If the NDC intends to have a divisive internal democracy like the NPP has now, then it is their problem (AS3M S3B3).

A similar imposition (at the time) of a Presidential candidate on the party in the run-up to the 2000 elections, led to groups splintering from the party, and handed a big advantage to the NPP, with H. E. John Agyekum Kuffour eventually winning the elections.
In trying to honour the 'favourite' of the party leadership in this manner, the NDC may cause the large advantage it has over the NPP in terms of voter preference, to be wittled away.
