In Australia NSW for example high school results are released on 16 December and students have up to18 December midnight to lock in their preferences. The system works without any problem.
Ghana needs a better computer program than what they are using.

Selecting schools after knowing wat u got and the schools that u are qualified to go to vrs selecting schools without knowing wat u will get and the schools that u will be qualified to select due to ur either good or poor results,and an Npp head thinks the latter is better than the former,smh,lemme break it down,I got aggregate 6 and so am automatically qualified to select Kwakwa Snr high vrs I can get aggregate 6 and so am selecting Kwakwa snr high,What if the results comes and I get aggregate 16?On any day,know your results and know the category of schools u are qualified to select wins,they should just correct whatever mistakes they did,and that system will be perfect.

This is reality not fantasy. Picking shools from the same category level and above your performance level is the quickest way to be without a school. Just common sense.

Nonsense, classification of schools have always been there, except that it's now clearly defined. In my days teacher met with students and parents to decide the best, better and good schools for each student based on their performance. The goal was to pick the best schools from three categories that will suit the child's needs and performance. It is foolish to pick all the three schools from the same category. If you miss one, you miss all.

It is parents unrealistic choices that is the problem. Selecting university courses, after the WASSE, has been the norm, because it allows candidates to match grades with cutoff grades for various courses. The computerised system, does its job, as it has been programmed to do. It is desire of parents, and rightly so, to get wards into the not so many category A schools that is the problem. Upgrading so called category B and C should be a matter of urgent priority, and this can be fast tracked by improving quality of teaching, learning, and supervision before thinking of infrastructure later
