Yes. And for the Northern Military youth who were based in Kumasi, he used them for his Military Coup. When Secondary Schools morphed into JH/SHS (Thanks to Noah Komla Dzobo, Moderator of the E.P. Church, and the worst transformational damage that happened to the Ghana Education Service during the PNDC) did they eliminate French Studies?

French language was compulsory during the first three years of Secondary education in most parts in Ghana. Even during the time, the system lacked trained French teachers, and that didn't boost student interest, so students dodged classes as the French teachers came in to teach. The Governments employed individuals who could speak French. There was no effective pedagogy adapted to handle the teaching.

Mount Mary Teacher Training College in Somanya which was churning out approximately 120 French teachers every year, was inconsequential nationwide and remained only complementary in terms of French teaching. Since it involved sending the students to foreign countries (Ouagadougou, Abidjan, Dakar and France), there was fight coming in from Winneba and other schools, disrupting the quietude of the Ghana-French Program.

I was one of the highly-interested ones.
Because of them, I speak French to this day.

For every Ghanaian to be proficient, even if not ultimately fluent in French, it must be compulsory right from the beginning, just like English.

You cannot inherit a country, spend your first months explaining the problems you inherited, and then expect Ghanaians to remain patient forever.

The opposition is supposed to criticize the government. The government is supposed to deliver.

Mahama cannot simultaneously enjoy the power of government and behave as though he is still campaigning against Nana Addo.

And let’s be honest about the politics.

The NDC spent years pointing fingers at the NPP’s record. Now that the table has turned, suddenly every problem has an explanation, every delay has an excuse, and every criticism is dismissed as NPP propaganda.

No.

You asked for power. You got power. Now accept responsibility.

If the NPP’s record was terrible, then Mahama’s government has an enormous opportunity to prove it can do better.

Don’t tell us what Nana Addo did wrong.

Show us what Mahama is doing right.

Don’t tell us how bad the economy was.

Show us how you are transforming it.

Don’t tell us how much debt you inherited.

Show us the jobs, businesses, infrastructure and opportunities you are creating.

Don’t tell us about the previous administration every time you are challenged.

Put your own record on the table.

Because eventually, the NDC’s favorite political weapon—“but Nana Addo…”—will stop working.

Ghanaians will ask:

“Fine. Nana Addo was bad. What have YOU done?”

That is the real test of Mahama’s second presidency.

The NPP has already had its opportunity and has been judged for its mistakes. Mahama now has his opportunity.

He cannot govern Ghana through the rear-view mirror.

A second-term President cannot keep campaigning against a government that is already out of office.

At some point, Mahama must stop explaining the past and start delivering the future.

Because Ghana did not elect him to be the country’s chief commentator on Nana Addo.

They elected him to govern.

And when history writes the scorecard, it won’t give bonus points for blaming the previous administration.

It will ask one question: WHAT DID YOU DELIVER?

JOHN MAHAMA IS IN HIS SECOND TERM — SO WHERE ARE THE RESULTS?

Let’s stop the political gymnastics and ask the question the NDC doesn’t want to answer:

What has John Mahama actually delivered in his second term that deserves to be called transformational?

For eight years, the NDC spent time attacking the NPP and telling Ghanaians that they could do better. They promised a better economy, jobs, development and a government that would put the ordinary Ghanaian first.

Now they have the power.

So govern!

You cannot spend every day blaming Nana Addo, blaming Dr. Bawumia, blaming the NPP, blaming COVID, blaming the debt crisis and blaming everyone else. At some point, the excuses become the government’s own record.

Mahama is not the opposition leader anymore. He is the President of Ghana.

The NDC asked Ghanaians for another opportunity. They got it.

So where are the massive economic transformations?
Where are the jobs?
Where are the industries?
Where is the infrastructure revolution?
Where is the dramatic improvement in sanitation?
Where is the promised better standard of living?

Where’s the 24 HOURS ECONOMY?

And before the NDC starts listing projects inherited from the previous administration as their own achievements, Ghanaians should ask a simple question:

What did you start, complete and deliver yourselves?

The NPP made mistakes. Nobody is denying that. But the NDC cannot use the NPP’s mistakes as a permanent excuse for its own failures.

You wanted the job.
You fought for the job.
You campaigned for the job.
You told Ghanaians you could fix the problems.

Now you have the job — FIX IT.

Mahama cannot campaign forever. At some point, the campaign ends and the report card begins.

And if the biggest achievement of a second-term government is explaining why the previous government was bad, then the government has misunderstood what Ghanaians elected it to do.

NDC supporters can shout. NDC communicators can insult. Social media warriors can trend hashtags. But none of that is development.

Ghana needs results, not propaganda.

Mahama asked for another chance. Ghanaians gave him one. Now history is watching.

If there are achievements, put them on the table.

If there are projects, show them.

If there are jobs, show the numbers.

If there is transformation, let Ghanaians feel it.

Because after all the promises, speeches and blame games, the question remains: MAHAMA, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
