A fierce exchange of blows among a group of young men on a truck Tuesday afternoon, held some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and residents of Old Ningo spell-bound.
The incident took place on the sidelines of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Mr. E. T. Mensah.
The “fighters” were part of the large crowd which had assembled at the launch. It was not immediately clear what could have triggered the fight which lasted for a few minutes, compelling some police personnel at the rally ground to climb onto the parked vehicle to restore law and order.
The scene diverted the attention of supporters, and sympathizers of the party, as well as some inhabitants of the town, while the police managed to restore order.
The fighting did not, however, disrupt the programme, neither was anybody arrested.
The NDC officials, including the General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afortey Agbo, the Member of Parliament for the area, who doubles as the Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. E.T. Mensah and other National and Constituency executive members of the party could only look on at the unfortunate occurrence from afar and trust the police to deal with it.
Just when this reporter who was meters away tried to get registration number for the vehicle it moved away.
