S.K writes on SOME OF THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE NPP THEN IN OPPOSITION AND THE NPP NOW IN GOVERNMENT (17/02/2017) ......
Indeed governance is a serious business. How one (an outsider) sees and perceives the running of state affairs may be far different from the reality on the ground. Hence coming or going into government thru deceitful and propaganda means must be a worry to all of us as a people.
So far, so worrying ...... Please for now, I would like you to forget of the plagiarism act exhibited by Nana Akufo Addo on his inauguration day which brought shame to our dear nation, wai!
1. The NPP in opposition kicked against the introduction of the Energy Sector Levies by the then Mahama administration. They described it as nuisance, wicked, and a burden on the citizenry. The NPP led by Nana Akufo Addo asked the then government to scrap the levies immediately.
Again, in their 2016 manifesto, page 14, the then opposition NPP promised to abolish or scrap the Energy Sector Levies immediately upon assumption of office if they win the election.
NOW, the 'competent' NPP in government are telling Ghanaians that, the said levies are critical and crucial in stabilizing the energy sector and the rationale behind its introduction by the "incompetent" Mahama administration was technically excellent. So they may not scrap it.
Hahahaha, what an incompetent deceit!
2. The NPP in opposition and upon assumption of office, precisely on the 10th of Jan, 2017, the now finance minister promised us not to expect any more increases in fuel prices but rather reductions.
NOW, Ghanaians have been slapped with about 19% increase in petrol and diesel prices. A gallon of petrol which was initially sold at GHC 16.00 shot up to GHC 19.00. Gas worth GHC 25.00 went up to GHC 30.00, that of GHC 50 shot up to GHC 60.00, and that of GHC 72.00 too went up to GHC 82.00. All these, in the last one month of the Akufo Addo-led administration.
Hmmmmm, what a deceit!
Breaking news ...... Another fuel price increases may be announced soon. ????????????
3. In opposition, the NPP led by Akufo Addo on several political campaign platforms, promised of repayment of monies due DKM, God is Love customers if elected to lead affairs of the state.
NOW, NPP in government are telling Ghanaians that, the repayments were not captured in their 2016 manifesto. Surprisingly, they don't even know where and when that 'alleged' promise was made.
Wow, it was once made at Nkoranza by Nana Akufo Addo if the NPP cares to know.
4. The NPP in opposition promised of giving all unemployed graduates and the Ghanaian youth in general lucrative jobs thru some policies.
NOW, the NPP in government are giving the youth red light, not to focus on public sector jobs. Again and amazingly, Ghanaians who have been employed the then Mahama administration are now shown the exit gate. May be they are perceived to be NDC supporters. About 208 Ghanaian youth undergoing TRAINING into the police service have been sacked, 207 already employed NSS staff have also had their share of the wickedness and now the ongoing (since Nov, 2016) recruitments of 8,643 nurses and other health professionals have been suspended indefinitely.
Hmmmmm, ITS clear that the npp government wants to be credited with those already created employments/jobs by the Mahama government; at least 8,643+207+208=9,058. Hence the plans to make it look like new recruitments they promised of. Period!
5. Since 2008, Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP promised the Free SHS Education Policy but never minded to tell Ghanaians the cost and the source of funding of the policy. Do you remember when Nana Addo in 2012, was asked about the cost by BBC, and his response?
NOW, the NPP in government are telling Ghanaians the 9% revenue of the petroleum resources under the Petroleum Revenue Management Act, called THE HERITAGE FUND is what is going to be used to finance the Free SHS policy after telling us the money is there. We have the men.
Hahahaha, what would they have used to execute the policy in 2008 and 2012???
Ghanaians have kicked against that move and we are now told it wasn't government approach to use the Heritage Fund but it's Hon Osafo Marfo's personal thoughts. ???????????? I laugh enter National Theatre. What an incompetent and incapable senior minister and government at large!
6. The NPP in opposition criticized the Mahama administration of going to the IMF for policy credibility. They touted they have the men and Ghana doesn't need the IMF to grow.
NOW, the NPP in government have hired the services of one company called McKenzie for policy credibility for the first 6 months of their administration. Amazingly, the NPP are now wise to tell us Ghana needs an extension of the IMF programme. What a double stance! Please, does Ghana now need an extension of the IMF programme to grow???
7. The NPP in opposition promised Ghanaians of more effective Rule of Law.
NOW, Ghanaians are publicly being harrased, beaten up. Personal properties of members and officials of the NDC are seized day in day out. Public installations and offices were of no exception. Police officers are now being assaulted at the presidency of all.
So where is the Rule of Law promised Ghanaians??? Hmmmmm, what a lawless government!
8. The NPP in opposition defended the corruption in the Ghana @50 anniversary.
NOW in the justification of the money to be spent on Ghana @60 anniversary which is $ 5m (GHC 20 million, 200 billion old cedis), they confessed that $ 75 m was spent on Ghana @ 50 celebration. So comparing that to the $ 5m, they regard this year's anniversary as modest. This is a confirmation of the corruption in Ghana @50 under the NPP.
Moreover, why do we spend GHC 20m on this anniversary when there are other pressing issues and more importantly in a 'collapsed economy' as the NPP describe it??? Hmmmmm, what a shame!
9. When in opposition, the NPP accused JM of creating the then POWER MINISTRY when there was the Energy and Petroleum ministry, describing that as incompetence and waste of the taxpayer's money.
NOW, NPP in government have created more conflicting ministries; like the Senior minister position, Planning, Regional Reorganization, Monitoring and Evaluation, Business Development, Sanitation, Aviation, Railways among other 'irrelevant' ministries, when there are the Finance and Economic Planning, Local Government and Rural Development, Trade and Industry, Transport and other ministries that can perform same functions.
For instance, the senior minister, Hon Osafo Marfo made it public that the Free SHS policy will be financed by the Heritage Fund, but the finance minister, Hon Ken Ofori Atta has rubbished that pronouncement by Osafo Marfo, saying government wouldn't use the said fund to finance the policy. So who is in charge of what???
Moreover, the Akufo Addo's 36 sectoral ministries and that of JM's 24, which ones would consume MORE of the taxpayer's money??? Don't be surprised ...... Answer yourself.
10. Etc etc etc
In conclusion, the government needs to focus on fulfilling its promises and stop chasing cars, seizing personal properties, threatening headteachers, among other lawless acts and the double stances they are now portraying to the citizenry.
#The battle is now the NPP's
#I am a citizen, not a spectator

We don't care what you sons of voodoo gods will say about our president. The most important thing is that; we have taken our country back. Our beloved Ghana is in the hands of patriotic leaders who won't loot and steal state assets like your notorious and nation wrecker NDC party and slick john Mahama did.
You can cry and who cares!!!!!!

Jubilee House costs GH¢176 million in 2007
When Ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor cut the tape to commission the presidential palace complex, which was to become one of his legacies, many Ghanaians were still in a limbo as to how much of their tax money was to be been pumped into the monstrous edifice.
Contrary to suggestions by many of the then ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government spokespersons that Ghanaians should be grateful to them for the complex, since it was largely being funded by a benevolent Indian Government, it has emerged that the project is costing the Ghanaian taxpayer GH¢176 million.
This figure represents three times the cost given to Ghanaians by the government.
Official correspondence from the Indian Consultants to the project, STUP Consultants Limited, put the cost of the Golden Jubilee Presidential Palace complex at $135 million.
According to the consultants the project covers an area of 16,750sqm, consisting of a 'presidential and vice presidential offices, the president's palace, ceremonial public spaces and allied service buildings.'
The cost of the project, which was originally estimated at 36.9 million dollars, was said to have shot up with the provision of additional facilities to enhance external and internal security. The new cost was however, never disclosed.
The new figure would certainly come as a surprise to many Ghanaians who have believed all along that the project was principally being funded with a $30miIlion Indian grant.
The amount was part of a $60m facility that has a 50 per cent grant element, at an interest rate of 1.75 percent, repayable in 25 years, including a five-year moratorium. Shapoorji Pallonji of India is undertaking the construction of the project, which started in 2006.
Since the terms of the facility allowed the donors' home companies to execute the project, it means the Indians had used their $30million grant bait to win a $135million contract for their people!
On November 10, 2008, when the former President hurriedly commissioned the complex in order to get his name inscribed on it, the government could still not tell Ghanaians how much the project was costing the taxpayer.
Describing the concept of the Palace the consultants, STUP, said the complex design is "a monumental form' which" depict African culture in a progressive and contemporary manner and to incorporate symbols of the aspirations of the people of Ghana,' adding that it 'communicates power; stability, democracy and freedom.'
Even though both the offices and residential complexes take the shape of a stool, which could be described as depicting 'African culture,' none of the designs in the outer wall, which is most visible to commuters and pedestrians alike, depict any of the well-known Ghanaian adinkra symbols.
Former President Kufuor attracted a lot of criticism from minority parties and sections of the Ghanaian public, when commissioning the project, for not seeing to the priority needs of the people, such as addressing the acute water shortage and lack of capacity to deal with sanitation in the cities, and described the choice as amounting to a misplaced priority.
The former President stated while inaugurating the first phase of the project that the Government at every stage of the construction had been sensitive to the financial implications of the venture as well as the conditions of life of Ghanaian
He received further flak for deciding to use the offices even as the complex was uncompleted, against an earlier statement he had made that he was not going to be the first to occupy the premises.
The criticism followed government announcement that Presidential staffers were moving into the uncompleted premises to await the President's arrival.
Mr. Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, President Kufuor's Minister for Information and National Orientation had told Voice of America's (YOA) Peter Clottey at the time that Ghanaians should be proud of having a historic national monument befitting a seat of government after half-a-century of political independence. .
