2017 VGMA Result: Joe Mettle beats Sarkodie with 51.22% to win Artiste of the Year

The collated voting results by KPMG at the 18th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has been revealed.

Joe Mettle became the first Gospel musician to win the ultimate award, “Artiste of the Year” since it inception in 2000.

The topmost award (Artiste of the Year) is based on 40% public votes, 30% Academy and 30% Board. Joe Mettle who now holds a new record of clinching the overall award as gospel act and for the first time for the gospel fraternity managed to beat competition with an incredible total votes of 51.22% as against Sarkodie who had 26.56%.

Stonebwoy, EL, Medikal and MzVee garnered 13.33%, 4.97%, 3.70% and 0.22% of total votes cast to place second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.
