The 2018 Ghana Theatre Festival is scheduled to commence on Monday 24th September, 2018 to 30th September, 2018 at the National Theatre premises in Accra.
The performances would start on Tuesday, 25th September, 2017 at 7pm with a performance that involves all three resident groups of the National Theatre which are the National Symphony Orchestra, National Drama Company and National Dance Company.
This year’s Festival is a week-long celebration of the performing arts and will showcase events and performances from both established and amateur production houses like the National Symphony Orchestra, National Drama Company, National Dance Company, Ehalakasa, Village Minds, University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts (Dance Department), Laugh line, Two Idiots Productions and F .C Productions.
In a press release, they stated that 2018 edition is a special edition of the Ghana Theatre Festival because it is part of their 25th anniversary celebration.
The event will seek to provide insights of what the Theatre has planned for our various audiences (Children, Youth, Adults and the Aged) in the future. “We hope the general public will seize this opportunity to be part of this wonderful Cultural and Artistic experience.” They added.
The production is going to include various shows such as Theatre Programmes for Schools, Fashion Shows, Art Exhibitions, Dance- Drama, Drama, Symposiums, Film Shows, Poetry Nights, Music including a special evening of Classical Music and Comedy.
In addition there will be a Food Bazaar and a Made in Ghana Fair. These selected activities have been well orchestrated to create a festival euphoria at the premises of the Theatre where all the performance spaces will take place.
The main productions at the weekend are scheduled for 4pm and 8pm each day and all other events take place between the hours of 9am and 10pm. The food Bazaar and Made in Ghana Fair is an all week event with varied food stalls, artisans and designers showcasing their wares.
