It is not in doubt that the 4Syte Music Awards has come to stay and that our music artistes go the extra mile to pay more attention to their music videos than they used to so as to gain the needed recognition.
Since the list of nominees was announced for the 2014 edition, various artistes have expressed reservations about being nominated in a particular category or overlooked in another.
Already, Edem and Stonebuoy have expressed their reservations but one damsel who has literally been given a raw deal is Itz Tiffany.
Tiffany Owusu aka Itz Tiffany has come a long way. The afro-pop artiste has some hit songs under her belt notably Fake London Boy, Neke, Neke, Agyekoom, Kae Se and Itz Tiffany.
Itz Tiffany however outdid herself with the Spanner song and video featuring Fuse ODG. With a superb storyline, photography, costume and beat, this is Itz Tiffany’s best work yet and it’s unfair to see 4syte capos throw cold water on her best work.
Itz Tiffany could have at least been nominated in the Best Directed, Best Storyline, Best Edited video, Best Photography and Best Collabo categories aside the solitary nomination she got for Best Female video.
Awards are for deserving people, it is imperative that organisers keep true to this spirit and nominate qualified people to have a chance of winning but to dismiss credible contenders without justifiable reason is hitting below the belt for which safeguards must be sought to make awards scheme credible whiles impressing it upon organisers to do diligent work.
For Itz Tiffany, her collaboration with Fuse ODG resulted in the smash hit ‘Azonto’ persuading Fuse to sign her on to his ODG records. The fruit thereof has been the Spanner release and the massive acclaim of the song and video is a clear testament to Tiffany’s musical gift.
Ride on Tiff.
