At the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel last Thursday, Charterhouse, organisers of the ominous music event made it known to all stakeholders in the music industry that all is set for this year?s event to kick off from May 1 to May 5.
The very glamorous and colourful event last Thursday which was also to officially announce the names of nominees for the public voting category of the awards, was graced by scores of musicians, producers and members of the press who turned up to be part of this year?s music awards festival.
Toping the list for this year?s public voting category of the awards are last year?s top award winner ? Ofori Amponsah, one time award winners Wutah, Obrafour, Kweku Gyasi, Batman among others.
According to the organisers, this year?s is the jubilee edition and by all standards will be much bigger than the previous ones.
Over the past seven years, the Ghana Music Awards has been organised by Charterhouse under the auspices of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Ministry of Tourism, and has maintained its stand as the most prestigious and most recognised music event on the entertainment calendar of Ghana .
Since its inception in 2000, the Awards scheme has stood out as the only event that celebrates and recognises the efforts of Ghanaian musicians in the country.In this cause, the awards ceremony stands out as the only platform on which Ghanaian musicians measure their strengths and weaknesses each year.
