A member of popular Ghanaian music band, Dark Suburb, has recalled an instance where a Facebook user sought their assistance to help him worship the devil.
Disclosing this in an interview with Lerny Lomotey on ‘Lalafio’, he described as unfortunate how people have tagged them as satanic. “There was an outrageous incident where someone hit us up on Facebook and told us to help him worship the devil. That’s the most ridiculous thing to ever happen to us,” he stated.
He also recalled another incident where a pastor labeled them as demons after watching their performance on the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA’s) stage.
According to the pastor, when Dark Suburb was performing during the VGMA’s, there was a change in atmosphere and he could feel the presence of demons.
Background
Dark Suburb is a "mysterious" music band that has popped up in Ghana’s music industry. It is an Alternative Rock Band caught between the worlds of the seen and the unseen, the living and the dead. The group’s members are not known except the leader, referred to as “High Priest”. This is because they always perform behind a mask.
The group believes that their style of music, costumes, and performances are unique and that accounts for the reason some people still find it difficult to make sense of what they are actually about.
The alternative rock band emerged the winner of the Unsung Artiste of the Year category at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Some of their hit songs include E Go Be, I Dey Feel You Die, Mama ft Wiyaala, Hustle among others.
