On September 19, 2006 in the midst of the UN General Assembly session, The Africa America Institute (AAI) which has Kofi Appenteng as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and CEO Mora McClean and Kofi A. Boateng, Chief Operating Officer organized its historic event; The AAI Annual Dinners; the $500 a plate fund raiser. This is an event where an African President receives an award on behalf of his country. President Kagame of Rwanda who was one of the distinguished guests; received an award for his country in 2004.
Among the noted personalities included; Dr. Kwesi Botchway, Former Finance Minister, NBA star, Dikembe Mutombo, Ben Chavis of the Hip-Hop Summit, New Correspondent, Ed Bradly of CBS, Ambassador Andrew Young, former Atlanta Mayor, many dignitaries and business executives.
During the Q & A session, President Mbeki let the whole world know that Africa is Always Open for Business.
