Abaawa Connie Adds Her Bite To Black Stars Cheer Songs

The World Cup fever is gradually taking the nation by storm as musicians, both gospel and secular are adding their voices in the career of our gallant 23-man squad in the FIFA World cup in South Africa 2010 this month.

One woman of integrity also noted among the pioneers of gospel music industry in Ghana, Abaawa Connie of “Yere Twen Wo” fame has added her sweet voice in the Black Star cheer song. She calls the song “Yede Mpaebo (we are using prayer). The song which is now receiving airplay both on radio and television station gives the Black Stars of Ghana courage and determination. “It is to show our dear Stars that God is always on their side in any competitive match they will encounter.

The ace gospel musician, Abaawa Connie who is known for her inspirational songs composed this Black Star cheer song to make the stars know that Ghana is solidly behind them.

She said she has realized that anytime the Black Stars go to such tournaments, it brings lots of peace, harmony and unity among Ghanaians. “Why shouldn’t I promote something I believe will bring unity to our motherland? Let’s all come together and support our Stars in unifying this nation with their splendid performances in any of their tournaments and I believe by so doing, the hands of the Lord will descend on us, Abaawa Connie stated.

The video of the cheer song “Yede Mpaebo which was directed by J. K Dickson also features a number of AMMRO members. Among them are Millicent Addo, Mama Effe, Bernice Offei, Sandra, Jennifer, Jane, Nana Yaa, Blessing, Asamoah, Kofi, Odikro, Adjetey Sowah, Ben Rasta and host of others. All the members who featured in the video are of high hopes that Ghana Black Stars will fly the flag of Ghana very high in the tournament.
