Popular media personality, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, commonly referred to as Abeiku Santana, has taken a swipe at corporate institutions.

He lamented that those companies turn a deaf ear to calls by artistes to support their initiatives. According to him, these same companies are swift in reaching out to the artistes asking them to perform at their end- of-year party.

This, he said, is an act of selfishness on the part of the companies and very unfortunate.

The OK Fm Drive Time host made the comments on his show Friday afternoon when he hosted Ghanaian hip life star, Edem in an interview. “It’s very unfortunate that artistes will be calling on companies to support their music events but they ignore them.”

“However as soon as it is time for their end-of-year- get-together, they start chasing the same artiste for performance; fire burn them and God punish them,” he decried. Abeiku, a former tourism ambassador under the erstwhile NDC government shared his own experience on the issue.

“At times, I go with the artistes to some of the companies for sponsorship. After many talks and deliberations, we leave with the assurance that they will get back to us but that never happens,” he said.

He added “When we try to call them for a follow up, they never respond.” Mr. Santana however singled out MTN and lauded them for supporting Edem with his EdemFest Music Festival. “MTN came on board for EdemFest. Let’s applaud MTN for supporting Edem,” he said.

Abeiku Santana further acknowledged Edem’s talent and hard work in helping the Ghana Music Industry grow, saying the ‘Nyedzilo’ hit maker is a creative musician.
