Below is the speech presented by Mawuko Kuadzi on behalf of Abraham Attah.
“I wish I was here in person to receive this award but it couldn’t happen but Big thanks to God for another opportunity to be honored. Thank you to my parent and everyone who believed in me and supported me to come this far. Thank you to event organizers for thinking about me and honoring me.
Tomorrow will be exactly a year, Beasts of No Nation was released.
And I am very happy to be part of such a wonderful film.
The first time I saw the film on the big screen I cried and I asked “so if war should hit our country is this how it is going to be?”. I was told, even worse than that. In this time of our election,my message to all Ghanians is “We have only one Ghana and we must not experiment with it. I experienced war in the movie and I don’t want to experience it in real life”.It is children like us that suffer. That is why even though I will not be in Ghana during the election, my foundation is embarking on the Ghana Peace Drive-Let Ghana Win. Ghana is my home,no matter where I find myself.
This award is dedicated to any talent out there, that has not been discovered yet
Thank you.”
Abraham Attah gained international prominence playing lead role alongside Idris Elba in the Movie Beasts of No Nation directed by Emmy Award-winning Cary Fukunaga.
