The President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Alhaji Sidiku Buari has admonished musicians to desist from the use of profane and suggestive lyrics, which invariably promote immorality in the society.
Speaking at the maiden edition of the Music Week of the National Theatre, the MUSIGA Boss advised musicians to perform with live band using real drums, horns, guitars, xylophones among others instead of the computerized type, since tourists who flock the country often complain about the lack of live band of live performances.
Consequently, he invited musicians who wish to rehearse with a live band to visit the MUSIGA headquarters, where they would be required to pay only a token fee. Alhaji Sidiku Buari said that by playing live band, musicians would create jobs for themselves and thus, become part for the Social Security and Health Insurances Schemes.
On his part, the President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Charles Oputa alias Charly Boy, said the musical ties between Ghana and Nigeria will be stronger than before and called on all to be watchdogs against pirates who have over the years taken advantage of the musicians.
Charly Boy who was grateful to the Ghanaian musicians for the warm reception hinted that the musicians? summit will be held in Abuja, Nigeria in October, this year.
