Kade, July 26, GNA - An Accra-based barber who appeared before aKade District Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday charged with breaking into a teacher’s room to steal told the court that he took an ex-girl friend there to have sex with her.

Kennedy Kwasi Nyarko pleaded guilty with explanation to unlawfully entering the room of one Mr Okai Boakye to steal and unlawfully and intentionally causing damage to his door.

Additionally, he also faced a third charge of stealing two shirts and two pairs of trousers, a Holy Bible costing and GH¢400 belonging to Mr Boakye.

Police Inspector Francis Cobbina told the court that Mr Boakye owned a house at Anweam and visited there on weekends and the accused, who once worked at Anweam, had a former girlfriend called Linda Naki Tetteh.

The prosecutor said on May 24, Nyarko visited Linda in the evening and aware that the complainant was away decided to take her to his room.

Nyarko broke into the room through the door and dragged the girl with the intention of having sex with her.

Linda shouted for help and this brought one Mr Isaac Kwaku Adjei to the scene.

After listening to the two, the witness decided to take them to the Chief’s palace but the accused escaped.

Mr Boakye was informed about the incident and he left Ofoase for Anweam the following day.

On his arrival he detected theft of the items and informed the chief of the town, Nana Adu Kwadwo, who with his elders decided to trap the accused and bring him to justice.

Linda was asked to invite him and she agreed but the accused who knew going to Anweam would not be safe for him arranged with her to meet him at Kade lorry station so that he could take her to Accra.

On June 10 the accused asked the woman to meet him at Kade so the chief and his two elders together with Linda went to the lorry station.

The chief and his elders laid ambush while Linda was asked to alert them on the arrival of the accused.

The accused arrived as planned and in the process of meeting Linda he was arrested and was sent to the police station.

In his explanation in court the accused said he did enter Mr Boakye’s room but he did not destroy the door.

He said his aim of going to the room was not to steal but to have sex with Linda.

The Magistrate, Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu, entered a plea of not guilty for him on all the three counts and granted him bail in the sum of GH¢800 with a surety and adjourned the case to July 28.
