Behind the scene of a movie produced in Ghana
Budding Kumawood actor, Emmanuel Yeboah, has called on the Government to push for the airing of more locally produced movies than foreign movies, to enable Ghanaians tell their own stories to the world.
According to him the number of times, locally content movies are being aired in Ghana is not encouraging as he believes the Government of Ghana has a role to play in reviving it and making it competitive.
He stated that “As we are here, we have stories that portray us as a people but of late it seems almost everyone is going for the western kind of culture in their movies they produce which is not helping us.”
So I’m pleading with the government and creative art industry to let us put more of our locally created movie stories on TV".
A call to the gov't to invest in the movie insdustry
Emmanuel Yeboah, has called on Government to invest money into the creative arts industry to prevent it from collapsing.
His call comes on the back of the decline in patronage of local movies by Ghanaians.
He noted that “the industry is dying as a result of lack of inadequate capital for producers”.
The actor who has featured in movies such as Perfect Love, Yaa Broni and Black Monkey continued that government “should come to our aid by creating some fund or capital for us to invest in the film making so that all actors and actress can get something doing”.
Cobby Jampar explained that the state of Ghana’s creative art industry is despicable forcing most of our celebrities to move to overseas to seek greener pasture.
