Accra, Feb 19, GNA- Regina Pornortey, a popular actress in Accra, and Nii Obrempong Ankrah, head of the Ankrah Family on Thursday, appeared before an Accra Cicuit Court, charged with conspiracy and fraudulent sale of land.

Pornortey and Nii Ankrah pleaded not guilty and the presiding judge, Ms Jennifer Tagoe, granted them 50 million cedis bail with a surety each.

The case has been adjourned to February 25. Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Eric Amoako, told the court that Pornortey's boy friend Umar Kwarfo Botchway, resident in London, is the brother of the complainant, a businessman in Accra.

He said Pornortey led the complainant and Botchway to buy a plot of land from Frank Aduamah who also acquired the land from the late Nii Amoatia IV, Asere Mantse of the Ga Traditional area, then the custodian of the land.

DSP Amoako said during one of the complainant's visits to the site, he detected the land was being developed.

The prosecutor said the complainant confronted the developer who told him that Pornortey sold the land to her for 63 million cedis. DSP Amoako said upon questioning, Pornortey admitted that she sold the land and mentioned Nii Ankrah as the person who instructed her to sell the land.

He said Nii Ankrah admitted the offence but could not produce any legal documents to prove that he was the owner of the land.
