A POPULAR KUMAWOOD Actress, Matilda Asante, has started a campaign to ensure the survival of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
According to her, the Free SHS is the best social intervention programme ever in the history of Ghana since the country attained independence in 1957.
Matilda Asante has, therefore, vowed to do everything possible to ensure the sustainability of the Free SHS policy for future generations to also benefit from it.
The actress told DAILY GUIDE that education is the best legacy that parents and guardians can bequeath their children today.
In line with this, she said she would use her popularity to preach to the public to contribute their quota so that the positive policy would be strengthened.
Without mincing words, Matilda Asante said the posture of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) shows that it is the main threat to the survival of the Free SHS policy so the people should take note.
According to her, if Ghanaians mistakenly vote for the NDC in 2020 or during any future elections it will scrap the Free SHS policy and jeopardize the future of the youth.
“I have started a campaign to convince the electorate to vote massively for the NPP in 2020 so that our cherished Free SHS policy will survive,”she disclosed with a smile.
Matilda Asante said she started her Free SHS protection campaign when President Akufo-Addo visited the Tweneboah Kodua SHS at Kumawu last week.
She said she would periodically make public appearances to preach about the benefits of the Free SHS policy and the need for Ghanaians to keep the NPP in power to protect the programme.
