It takes some artistes donkey years to explain whatever they sing out to their fans.
Quiet some few months, after releasing the hit RnB single “Love You Better” featuring Ugandan songbird Juliana Kanyomozi, Jay Ghartey released another hit Afro pop titled “African Money” featuring Ghana’s finest EL and AJ Omo Alajah.
“African Money” has been embraced by thousands of African, European and American music lovers. But the questions are; What does African Money mean? What is the concept behind African Money? What message does it carry across to the listeners?
Over the weekend, Jay Ghartey decided to explain these questions to his listeners and fans. This is what he has to say in an unedited transcript he released.
“You see Africa is rich in natural resources, culture and in its people and the rest of the world and Africans themselves must be reminded of this and we must continue to set the facts straight.
When I was young in the U.S.A and I told people I was an African. They immediately thought I came from a poor country. Even though I did not show my feelings, I felt bad and it pained me.
But 20 years later things have changed in the world and slowly people are now starting to have more respect for Africa. They know we are hardworking and educated and ready to move on things. It’s a new revolution and I'm calling it “African Money”. It’s also a swag and state of mind, never giving up, having pride and to walk with the mentality of “African Money”.
