Afua's Diary hits Silverbird Cinema's on Oct. 30

Pixelex Aspect and BOS Films UK are proud to announce the Ghana release of their film ‘Afua’s Diary’.

The critically acclaimed British African romantic comedy drama hits Silver Bird screens from the 30th of October.

Set in London, Afua’s Diary follows the life of Afua Forson Brown, a pretty Ghanaian marketing graduate whose British student visa is on the verge of running out.

Her situation is made worse by a lazy arrogant boyfriend who depends on her for everything, an alcoholic father in Ghana (KSM) who is always asking her for money and a job she hates.

Afua eventually finds love with Italian businessman, Alan Freeman just as her visa application falls through.

She finds herself having to contend with a big dilemma; Should she stay in the UK as an illegal immigrant for the sake of love and hope for the best or should she return to her alcoholic father in Ghana?

The film has won a number of awards & nomination around the world; it received a juror’s choice award at the Women of African Descent film festival in New York, a nomination for best feature at the Los Angeles independent film festival Awards and best cast at the Los Angeles Urban film festival. It has also been praised by the British press with Lorna Ashley of the British National awards describing it as ‘a love story that will tug at the heartstrings of every viewer’ and conservative MP for Bedford commending the film for its unique ability in combining politics, humour, and romance to create a light hearted drama.

Writer and producer, Bibi Owusu-Shadbolt is looking forward to bringing Afua’s Diary to her home country and hopes Ghanaians take to it. ‘I feel very privileged to be given the opportunity to show my debut movie in Ghana. Afua’s Diary is a beautiful story. The plotline resonates with every Ghanaian who has either lived abroad or has a relative who has. More so, it is a great love story that everyone can relate to’

Afua’s Diary is a Pixelex Aspect production written, produced and co-directed by Bibi Owusu Shadbolt and directed by Ben Owusu. It stars British super-model and actress Cleopatra Wood, award winning Italian -Egyptian actor Fabio Abraham and multiple award winning Ghanaian actor/comedian KSM.
