Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, has conspicuously been spotted at the vetting of Cathrine Ablema Afeku, Minister-designate for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture.

Agya Koo was rumored to have been tipped for a position in government after the NPP, which he vigorously campaigned for won power in last year’s election.

The minister-designate quizzed on the presence of the Kumawood actor said he was merely present to show solidarity to the sector under which the movie industry is featured.

Agya Koo joined a tall list of entertainers, including Matilda Asare and Ras Nene who openly endorsed President Akufo-Addo during the electioneering campaign.

The actor is quoted as saying at the time that “since this [NDC] government came to power, there has been so much hardship and Ghanaians are complaining… For five years I have been at home, a lot of actors and actresses are just home with nothing to eat".

“I called my colleagues and told them to listen to the complaints of others… Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo should come and rescue this country. John Mahama has done his bit, but the group we have started [agenda 57% for Nana Addo] will travel the length and breadth of this country to explain to people why we need a change in government and why they should support Akufo-Addo”.
