US- based Senegalese R&B Star, Akon put up a vintage performance in Accra in one of the most successful concerts of the festive season.
The show, organized by JOY FM, 100 Degrees and Image Consortium, attracted hundreds of people who were thrilled by Akon?s stagecraft, which was preceded by performances by Ghanaian artists.
Expectations were high as hundreds of fans thronged the conference centre to watch Akon?s concert on Friday night.
The conference centre was almost filled by 10 pm when the show got underway. Local hiplife artists Kwabena Kwabena, Praye, Obour and Batman were among the list of local artists who kicked off the show.
After nearly three hours of exciting performances the fully packed auditorium started chanting Akon?s name.
The stage had therefore been set for an exciting performance by the star.
And then came the moment. Akon ushered onto the stage by his personal DJ.
The auditorium of the conference centre was ecstatic and security men on detail had a tough time controlling the crowd that wanted to have a feel of the R&B Star.
Backed by a ten-member band, Akon shot on stage to do what he knows best, provide heavy crowd pulling songs from his Trouble album.
Songs like ?Ghetto?, ?Lonely? and ?Locked up? among others kept the crowd yelling for more and Akon had the patience to deliver on their request.
For more than two hours, the crowd yelled and Akon responded with more tracks.
Finally, when he left the stage, the crowd still waited for about ten minutes hoping he would return to the stage.
But when they realized it was all over, many who spoke to JOYNEWS said it was a show worth its cost.
