Mustapha Hamid has said the under-two-year-old Akufo-Addo government has performed better than any other government since the 4th republic.
“We’ve done a lot in managing the economy, we have not overspent our budget. We’ve done a lot in terms of Communication and many more. The Hajj has been smooth if you ask me. No pilgrim was left behind this year.
“Our government has done wonderfully and better than any government has done in the history of the 4th Republic,” the minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Tuesday.
Governments under the 4th republic include the Rawlings, Kufuor, the late Mills and the Mahama administrations.
Mr. Hamid who is former Information minister also dismissed rumors that he is not pleased with his new portfolio in government.
According to the former Presidential Spokesperson, he considers his reassignment as a great honour and an opportunity to help the zongo communities.
“To a larger extent, I played a role in getting my new role as a Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development. I wanted a new challenge after being in the communication space a little over 11 years.
“As a Zongo Boy, I owed the community. I have taught in various makaranta schools but I think there is more I can do,”
Dr. Hamid added that his focus while at the ministry will be to tackle education among zongo communities.
“We will make sure our people get sound education and sound shot at life…as part of our educational drive, we plan on setting up reading and study clubs to help the younger ones.”
