Akufo-Addo has deceived us - Big Akwes

Popular Ghanaian Kumawood actor Big Akwes has expressed his frustrations over the dire conditions some members of the Ghanaian movie industry are facing.

In an interview with Empress Gifty on "U Cook," the actor, who supports the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), criticised President Akufo-Addo for failing to fulfill his promises made during the 2016 campaign.

“There is no political party more deceitful than the NPP. President Akufo-Addo lied to us. On August 3, 2016, we met with him, and he promised to support the movie industry.

“What he promised made me believe in him. I even contributed to his campaign in 2016, but since he came to power, he has done nothing,” he stated.

Big Akwes further expressed his full support for former President Mahama, declaring himself a dedicated member of the NDC.

He has revealed that he has initiated a well-structured plan to help Mahama win the December 2024 elections.

“I am a full NDC member, and if you're looking for an actor in the movie industry who has declared support for the NDC, I think I will be the first,” I have implemented the Good Government Card to solicit funds for Mahama’s campaign,” he said.

When asked about endorsing independent candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, Big Akwes described him as a confused person.

“Cheddar doesn’t know what he’s saying. How can he claim he will bring the sea to Kumasi? Is that even possible?” he stated.
