International event promotion company Akwaaba UK has responded to claims by some media outlets in Ghana that appeared to downplay rapper Sarkodie’s recent concert at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.

The organisation reacted in a post shared on Instagram on March 9, 2026, expressing disbelief over commentary from some Ghanaian media platforms and their panelists regarding the turnout for the show, which took place on March 6, 2026.

In the statement, the promoters questioned whether the panellists understood the challenges involved in organising and promoting events in the United Kingdom, especially when it comes to attracting audiences.

“I honestly can’t believe what I’m hearing right now from some media outlets and their guests panelist’s in Ghana. Do you guys realise how difficult it is, for us promoters in the UK to get 500 people to attend a show or a party in the UK, let alone sell out the iconic Royal Albert Hall,” part of the statement read.

The organisers further noted that the venue is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious performance spaces in the world, hosting global legends across music and entertainment.

According to the statement, for a Ghanaian and African artiste like Sarkodie to sell out the historic venue is a major achievement that should not be casually compared to local shows in Ghana.

The response follows comments made by some panelists during a discussion on Adom TV on March 7, 2026, where they conducted a post-mortem analysis of Rapperholic UK.

During the discussion, some panelists reportedly argued that Sarkodie should not necessarily be applauded for filling the roughly 6,000-capacity venue, claiming that the Sarkodie brand is bigger and should be capable of filling arenas with capacities exceeding 20,000.

Meanwhile, Sarkodie has already set his sights on an even bigger venue. The rapper has announced plans to host the 2027 edition of Rapperholic UK at The O2 Arena, one of the United Kingdom’s largest indoor arenas.
