Akwatia (E/R), April 3, GNA - The chiefs and people of Akwatia, have started the celebration of the ninth anniversary of Denkyembuo festival with a health-walk and clean up of the township on Saturday. The health-walk, led by the Akwatiahene, Osabarima Kofi Boateng III, covered about five kilometres, which involved over 20 keep-fit clubs and other organisations. It was meant to promote physical well being of the people.

As part of the celebration, the people cleared their surroundings of filth, weeded bushy areas and desilted drains.

Addressing the people after the walk, the Nkwatiahene urged the people to take interest in regular physical exercises and environmental cleanliness in order to enjoy good health.

The climax of the celebration would be a durbar of chiefs and people on Sunday to be addressed by the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Yaw Barimah. This would be followed by a state dance at which Miss Denkyembuo would be crowned.

The festival would be rounded off with a non-denominational church service on Sunday.
