Alhaji Sidiku Buari Sues Weekly Fylla

Alhaji Sidiku Buari, Vice President of International Fedreation of Musicians and President of Musicians Union of Ghana has filed a writ at an Accra Fast High Court for libel against the publishers of Weekly Fylla newspaper.

Alhaji Buari who is also the Acting Board Chairman of Copyright Society of Ghana is claiming one billion cedis in damages and an injunction to restrain the publishers from further publications against him.

The defendants are Ce Menz Media, publishers of the newspaper, Mr Eugene Kenny Ntreh, Editor and Mr Eugene Osafo-Nkansah, a reporter of the newspaper.

In a statement of claim filed Mr Francis Kumah of Prudential Law Office in Accra , Alhaji Buari said a publication in the March 19, 2007 edition under the banner headline "Musicians at War" and "Sidiku Buari in Trouble- Musicians Demand Accountability and Threaten to push him out of office," was libellous.

It said the publication showed the plaintiff as a greedy, dishonest and fraudulent person and had been greatly injured in his reputation and brought into public scandal, hatred, ridicule and contempt.
