Accra, July 22, GNA - Alhaji Sidiku Buari, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and acting Board Chairman of the Copyright Society of Ghana (COSGA), has dragged Compuprint Ltd., publishers of the People and Places (P&P) newspaper and Joris Jordan Duodoo, a staff writer of the paper before court for a series of alleged libellous publications.

He is claiming two billion cedis in damages and cost. A writ of summons issued in Accra said Duodoo and the newspaper had for sometime now been publishing false stories about Alhaji Buari without caring to crosscheck their facts with him.

The writ said the publications were not only malicious but also scandalous and had greatly injured the reputation and character of Alhaji Buari, who is also Vice President of the International Federation of Musicians, exposing him to public ridicule.

Alhaji Buari is seeking an injunction to restrain the defendants, their servants and agents from further publishing the libellous stories against him.
