All set for MUSIGA congress

Alhaji Sidiku BuariAll is set for the national congress of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the election of new national executive members of the Union at the GNAT Hall in Sunyani on November 14.

A statement by the Union signed by Alhaji Sidiku Buari, President, said eight persons had been cleared by MUSIGA’s vetting committee to contest various positions on the national executive.



Those cleared by the committee for the contest include Diana Hopeson, who is standing unopposed for President, following the disqualification of Gyedu Blay Ambolley, the other contestant for not being in good standing.



According to the statement, Ambolley was disqualified on the grounds that he had not paid any dues since 1986.

A.B. Crentsil and Togbe Edinam Ansah are vying for the First Vice President slot, while Amandziba Nat Brew, is contesting the post of Second Vice President.



Nana Kwame Ampadu is contesting unopposed for General Secretary, while the post of Welfare Officer is being contested by C.K. Morrison and Prince Osei Kofi. Jude Lomotey is standing unopposed for the post of Treasurer.



The statement stressed that only paid up members would be eligible to vote at the congress.
