Popular TV anchor, and host of TV3’s ‘Diva’s Show’ Nana Aba Anamoah has advised groups asking for the release of Hip-life artiste Kwaw Kese to back down on their demands and allow the law take its course.
She made the comments Tuesday morning on TV3’s “New Day” program.
The hip-life artiste was arrested by Police in Kumasi on Saturday for smoking substance suspected to be cannabis in public.
He was processed for court and remanded on Monday in prison custody for 2 weeks. Since his arrest on Saturday, several groups on social media have called for his release.
Popular entertainment figures such as Samini, Barimah Sydney, Bulldog, Hammer, and Afia Swarzeneggar have all joined an online campaign for the release of Kwaw Kese, also known as ‘Abodam’.
A group in the artiste’s hometown, Agona Swedru in the Central Region, known as “Ghetto Boys”, has also threatened to embark on a massive demonstration if the “king of the street” is not released.
Kwaw Kese faces up to 10 years imprisonment if convicted of the charges leveled against him. Unlawful possession and use of cannabis is illegal in Ghana.
