Ama Ampofo did not win an award at the 2015 AMAA

Ghanaian actress Ama Ampofo won nothing at the 2015 edition of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) though her name popped up on the list of winners published by some major Ghanaian online platforms.

The 11th edition of the AMAAs took place at the Broad Walk Centre in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, over the weekend and was attended by a number of celebrated Africa movie celebrities. Among them were Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Lydia Forson, Chioma Akpota and a host of others.

Ghana didn’t pick a single award at the ceremony as the country’s nominees, Joselyn Dumas, Ama Ampofo and others, lost out to their African counterparts.

But Ama Ampofo was misled into thinking she won. She took to Instagram to celebrate her win but later deleted the post.

The AMAAs are presented annually to recognise excellence in Africa’s motion picture industry.
